Alba's Daughter's Prayers Were Answered

Three years ago, Alba’s three oldest children were taken away by child protective services because of abuse caused by their father. She wasn’t told which orphanage her daughters had been taken to, and Alba had to leave their family home when her husband was taken to jail. With no information and no options, she moved back to her small hometown in a mountain town to be supported by her parents and family, taking her two youngest children with her. In that time, she changed phone numbers, and the child protection office had no way of contacting her.

When her daughter’s case file was assigned to our team in the child protective office, because their father was in jail and there was no legal reason for them to be in an orphanage any longer, we began by traveling to where they used to live to find out any information we could about where Alba was. After meeting with her old neighbors, everyone expressed how great a mom Alba was to her children and how sweet a family they were, but no one had been in contact with her. Until one of the teenage daughters at a neighbor’s house said that she believed that she followed her on TikTok, she went and got her phone and searched until she found her account. She sent her a message saying we were looking for her, and she immediately answered the message, shared her new phone number, and asked how she could get in touch with her daughters.

The next week, we went with our social worker and psychologist to visit Alba, who was living there. She was eager to begin supervised visits and to have the chance to get her daughters back home. Her daughters were so excited to get to see their mom again. They shared how they had prayed each night for the chance to be together again and had never lost hope of being home again.

We supported Alba and her kids with a permanent home and furnishings, education scholarships for her kids, medical costs for one of the kids, and a small business start-up that they will run from their home to be financially stable.

Thank you for making it possible to reconnect this family, and ultimately to reunite them.
